When it comes to running chmod on a nix box I always find it hard to remember which number corresponds to read, write and execute. I like to think that I understand binary enough to do its maths, but it just doesn’t click for me which one maps rwx.
As such I find that I always leave a chmod cheat sheet on my desk in one form or another.
Then I figured, it wouldn’t be hard to create a digitised PDF version of it that I can print off whenever, or even just pull it up on a screen or a phone.
So here it is! I have created it – and it is here for you if it helps you too!
